Reuters released the following brief story thirty minutes after Rupert Murdoch released a statement about Noa Kalakaua’s campaign.
Rupert Murdoch, the Chairman of News Corp., the parent company of Fox, released a statement today explaining that he has had no involvement in Noa Kalakaua’s campaign and hasn’t yet decided if he’ll vote for Kalakaua or Arizona Senator John McCain.
The statement, released through News Corp.’s media relations department, was brief and to the point.
“I met Mr. Kalakaua in New York when he came to pitch his show. I had no insight then into his presidential ambitions and I did not have the ultimate responsibility for approving his show. Any suggestion that I am attempting to manipulate the outcome of this country’s presidential election is baseless, though somewhat amusing and flattering. I’ve had no involvement whatsoever in Mr. Kalakaua’s campaign. His show does not, in any way, support my interests. I am thrilled with the performance of his show and very much hope that it continues as it is making News Corp a great deal of money. I believe Mr. Kalakaua is an extremely talented young man. I am not certain that I believe he is capable of running this country. I have not yet decided whether I’ll vote for him or John McCain. I will not vote for the Democratic nominee.”
